Mike Parmiter
Died peacefully 18th November 2011

It is with great sadness we announce that BIG has lost one of its founder members.
Mike sadly passed away suddenly but peacefully last night at home in Oxfordshire.

Mike has been the Officials secretary for BIG since the very first meeting in June 1995 when he stepped in with such enthusiasm to ensure the meeting was a success and has been a fervent supporter ever since.  Over the years he has been Meeting Manager, Technical Manager, Field Referee and "general dogs body". On so many occasions he has always been there to help me through those difficult times. How fitting that only 6 weeks ago Mike was awarded the Services to Officiating Award at the England Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner - richly deserved

I have lost a very good friend and confidante and will miss his inspiration and honesty for many years to come.

My heart goes out to Sue, his son Richard, daughter Katharine and grandchildren at this very sad time.

The sport and BIG has lost a wonderful man who will leave a huge hole in the lives of those who had the privilege to know him.

Sleep well Mike - I will open that bottle of wine you specially made for me on my 50th birthday and we will all have a toast to you on June 10th next year.
